I’d already called Grandpa to ask him to call the high school to excuse me today. He asked me to get another appointment with my neurologist at Emory. I promised I would.

“I think that’s impossible Grandpa,” I said, taking my dishes to the sink, and crossing back for the pasta bowl.
Dad, quiet as ever, stared at the wall, as he shoveled another bite of shrimp angel hair pasta into his mouth.
I kissed the side of his forehead. “How is it, Daddy?”
